Each playwright in the New Voices Young Playwrights Festival has the opportunity to develop their play through conversations with peer writers, a dramaturg, a director and cast. Through playwright workshops, dramaturgy discussions, production meetings and rehearsals, the New Voices playwrights play an active integral role in the shaping of their production. The New Voices Young Playwrights Festival is open to middle and high school students, grades 6 through 12, living in Kentucky or the 812 area code of Southern Indiana. Students must be enrolled in the 6th-12th grade as of October 31, 2019. All young writers are encouraged to submit—you do not need to participate in a New Voices classroom residency to submit your play to the festival.
