A grisly folk song – “Harp Screws”

A rather grisly folk song in which a woman drowns her sister. We think the original song was called “The Two Sisters”, but the Last Folksinger of Frog Hollow sings a version here called “Harp Screws.” We’re not quite sure he sings the words exactly right…something goes wrong in the middle somewhere. This video is from a series of videos we filmed with Henry Ricketts, hoping to record the folk songs of Frog Hollow, Kentucky, before they’re forgotten.
